A Quick Guide To Finding Cheap International Flights

Finding cheap flights can make or break the overall cost of a holiday, and possibly be the difference between whether you end up jetting off or not! So if you’re itching for a bit of sun, or you’re keen to explore somewhere new, you want to be sure that you are finding the cheapest possible flights to get you abroad and making new memories.

So if you’re wondering what exactly you should be doing to find yourself bargain flights, keep reading for our quick guide.

Use price comparison websites

One of your first ports of call should probably one of the price comparison websites out there such as Skyscanner, Momondo or Kayak which will take a lot of the hard work out of your search.

These comparison sites will run a search across different operators and airlines so that you don’t have to do it yourself, but it is worth checking more than one comparison site as they are often offered different deals.

Be flexible

We spoke to Globehunters, a leading travel agent who told us “one of the best ways to grab a bargain is to be truly flexible with when or even where you are willing to fly. Flying on certain days of the week, at unsociable hours, or to a different airport can work out a lot cheaper.”

If you use Skyscanner to look for flights, you can actually enter ‘anywhere’ as your destination when searching for flights, and if you select ‘whole month’ and then ‘cheapest month’ you will see which destinations are cheapest from your chosen departure airport.

This is a great option if you know you want a holiday, but you don’t have your heart set on one particular destination, or you don’t mind when you go. Of course, this is tricky if you have to work around things like school holidays, but you should still be able to get a good idea of where is the cheapest to go.

Fly budget

The clue is in the name, but you will definitely find far cheaper fares if you are prepared to opt for a budget airline for your travels. Sure, you may not be quite as comfy, but a few fewer creature comforts is a small price to pay if it’s the difference between you being able to afford a holiday or not.

And while budget airplanes aren’t that flashy, you’ll usually only be on them for a few hours anyway, and they aren’t really all that uncomfortable for a short amount of time.

Sign up for newsletters

If you want to be on the ball when it comes to flight sales and discounted fares, it’s a good idea to sign up for newsletters with a few different airlines so that you can be notified when there is a sale.

In this day and age nobody likes for their inbox to be too clogged up with emails, but if you’re keen to get a holiday in this year, it can’t be a bad idea to be clued up on these things.

We hope that this has given you a few pointers for different ways you can try to grab yourself the cheapest flights available the next time you’re looking for a holiday!
